Livestock Development Section

Fisheries Section

Livestock Development Section is charged with the responsibility to streamline the livestock production and extension in the Department.

Functions of the section

·         Conserve, manage and develop fishery resources and waters in a sustainable manner.

·         Manage, develop and protect aquaculture, vegetation and fish habitats.

·         Regulate the conduct of fishing operations including aquaculture and operations ancillary thereto.

·         Ensure the fair access to fisheries resources for commercial recreational and indigenous use.

Veterinary Services Section

Fisheries and Livestock Marketing Development Section

·         Provision of veterinary extension services in order to enhance animal health.

·         Implementation of programmes to prevent, detect, control or eradicate animal diseases in order to improve animal productivity and protect human health.

·          Identification and tracking animals and animal products in order to regulate animal movements and prevent the spread of animal diseases.

·         Implementation of veterinary public health programmes to ensure food safety and wellbeing of animals and humans.
