The Ministry of Finance today held a Special District Development Coordinating Committee (DDCC) Consultative Meeting in Chibombo District to gather community submissions that will inform the formulation of Zambia’s Ninth National Development Plan (9NDP) for the period 2027–2031.
The meeting brought together Ward Development Committees (WDCs), Zonal Heads, Zonal Representatives and other stakeholders to identify and validate key development priorities for the district. Among those in attendance was Chibombo Town Council Secretary, Mrs Grace Kanyata, who reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to supporting an inclusive planning process that reflects the development priorities of local communities.
Officially opening the meeting, District Commissioner Mr Lloyd Kayeka said Government remains committed to a participatory, inclusive and evidence-based planning process that reflects the aspirations of communities. He urged participants to make strategic and practical recommendations that will contribute to improving the quality of life of every Zambian.
Mr Kayeka acknowledged that while the country has made notable progress across various sectors, challenges such as poverty, unemployment, climate change and infrastructure deficits remain. He, however, noted that opportunities in digital transformation, regional integration, private sector participation and the green economy present a pathway for sustainable national development.
The Ministry of Finance also conducted a separate consultative meeting with key stakeholders as part of the nationwide exercise to ensure that the Ninth National Development Plan reflects the priorities and needs of communities across Zambia.
